Master's and Doctoral Programs in International Public Policy

Degree:
Master’s degree in international public policy
Doctoral degree in international public policy

The Doctoral/Master’s Program in International Public Policy consists of four major fields: International Relations, Sociology, Area Studies, and Public Policy. This program provides a comprehensive curriculum and research guidance to graduate students for their research capacity building through a professional as well as an interdisciplinary approach in each field. The program also aims to educate students by promoting and upgrading their research capacity to an international level and their practical knowledge for framing problems and finding solutions in the area of international public policy.

In the field of international relations, students will study international relations, international security, international law, the history of international relations, domestic politics and economics, diplomacy of each area and country such as the United States, Europe, Russia, Eastern Europe, China, and modern Japan. They will also explore the issues related to globalization, regional development, and migration based on field work.

The field of sociology will offer the opportunity to study social issues and cultural studies. Concretely, social issues include topics on medicine, education, family, regional problems, and deviancy while cultural studies focus on modern representational culture, knowledge, history, communication, organizations, cities, and sports.

The field of area studies aims to develop experts on a specific region and high-level professionals with broad perspectives, who are capable of taking the initiative to work and playing an active role in the arena of global contribution and international cooperation. We try to realize this goal through area studies, which requires an intrinsic and comprehensive understanding of a specific country and regional community.

The field of public policy conducts studies to provide analysis and evaluation of actual policies using theories, basic concepts, and approaches of economics, political science, law, etc. In particular, students will try to improve their policy planning skills and the ability to conduct analysis of the effectiveness of implementation and corresponding development policy challenges.
